Frank Suárez (1950-2021) founded NaturalSlim in the United States in 1998. He was not a medical doctor. NaturalSlim is a registered trademark used under licence. NaturalSlim B.V., Amsterdam, distributes NaturalSlim products in Europe. The company was founded in 2022 and is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 85774529.
Frank Suárez was born in Puerto Rico in 1950. He was an obese child and teenager who was mistreated by other children and teenagers in what we would now call “bullying” because of his weight. As an adult, he began to develop health problems related to obesity (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and pre-diabetes). After a lifetime of countless personal failures, which saw him lose weight only to inevitably regain it, Frank concluded that there must be something wrong with his body's metabolism. He had tried all kinds of fad diets, as well as traditional “calorie-counting” diets that reduced fat consumption, without success. With the sole goal of solving his personal obesity problem, Frank, who had been a lover of science and study since he was young, decided to devote his free time to discovering the factors that could explain why some people can eat whatever they want and never gain weight, while others like him seemed to gain weight “just by looking at food.” Based on this idea, he devoted himself to intensive research on the subject of METABOLISM in medical and scientific literature. Several years later, he managed to isolate the factors that accelerate metabolism as well as the causes of so-called “slow metabolism.”
Frank applied what he had learned to his own life, and over the years he turned that experience with weight and metabolism into an educational method.
Dozens of people who had known him for years began asking him for advice. Frank found that what he had learned about metabolism also helped other people understand their own, and in 1998 he founded the NaturalSlim® center to pass that knowledge on.
In 2006, after helping the first 10,000 people understand their metabolism, Frank published his book The Power of Metabolism, which quickly became a bestseller. The Power of Metabolism, originally published in Spanish, has been translated into English, French, and Dutch, and has sold more than 600,000 copies in the twelve countries where it is distributed. In 2010, this book won the “Best Health Book” award at the International Latino Literary Awards with the “Triple Crown Award” distinction, having achieved the unanimous decision of the judges. El Poder del Metabolismo has become and remains a classic of educational literature that promotes health.
In 2014, Frank published his book Diabetes Sin Problemas: El Control de la Diabetes con la Ayuda del Poder del Metabolismo. After its publication, Frank received letters of congratulations from the presidents of Puerto Rico's three main universities. In Resolution #938 of September 2014, the Puerto Rico Senate recognized and congratulated him “for his work as an educator, for his appointment and invitation to become a lifetime member of the prestigious Puerto Rico Academy of Arts and Sciences, and for his valuable contribution to the general welfare through his initiatives and books aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and lifestyles.”
He was also inducted as a full member of the Ibero-American Academy of Science and Culture, and on November 5, 2014 he received a Special Recognition from the United States Congress and House of Representatives for his educational work on metabolism and diabetes.
Frank collaborated on several clinical studies with researchers at the University of Puerto Rico and the Autonomous University of Coahuila in Mexico.
